...so, fun fact... did you guys know rail physics work differently in SA2 as opposed to the Digital Swirl engine? in SA2, when you land onto a rail, it directly converts the speed you had beforehand into the angle you're at when you snap onto the rail. for instance--if you homing attack a vertical rail, like in that picture, you'd travel up it quickly, because you just got a ton of FORWARD speed from your homing attack--which translates directly into VERTICAL speed, since the rail turns you vertically. that's the reason why those crazy vertical ramps in Final Rush can work as they do. ...in the DS engine, however, the speed you have before you land on the rail is directly converted globally, instead of according to the rail's direction. for instance, if you homing attack onto a vertical rail in the DS engine, what happens instead is that, even though you have a lot of forward speed from your homing attack, it does nothing for you, since horizontal speed doesn't get you up a vertical wall. if anything, you actually get some downward speed as you snap onto the rail, since the homing attack causes you to fall a bit. so, that meant that making the Final Rush ramps in PA3 was harder than i thought it'd be. luckily, after digging into the code, it was pretty easy to adjust the function that re-converts your speed globally, and i was able to shut it off specifically for those ramps in that stage. ...it also means those rails work different than all the other rails in the game, but oh well. honestly, i spent more time getting the moving textures on all the different rail parts to line up than i did actually fixing the physics code. hope you enjoyed this month's episode of SJ12 drives himself crazy over small details. i hope this deep dive into an aspect of the games' physics was interesting

Nice that your trying to fix the (kinda minor) problem. Hope that you are able to fix it so the game can be EVEN Better.

RARE WEDNESDAY UPDATE!
SuperJumpman12 got me setup to design Final Rush late last night, so today I went in and created some prefabs and textured some objects that I thought would be handy as I start to design the stage.
And oh my god! I worked FEVERISHLY on Final Rush tonight! If you're a fan of PA2's Wave Paradise and how there's so many paths you can weave in and out from... you'll be looking forward to Final Rush.
I've been, like, possessed all evening working on Final Rush, and depending on what combination of paths you take (because so far there's 3, almost 4 paths you can intertwine between at any given moment) the stage lasts either 1:10 or :40.
Heh.
Speedrunners will get a kick out of this stage, I bet.
I'd also be lying if I didn't peel back the curtains a bit even more, to tell you that it's starting to be super emotional for me, too. Final Rush included, the only speed stages we have left to design are all final levels (except City Escape. we are saving that one for last). Pyrite's been a series we've been pouring our hearts into for almost 10 years, but especially PA3 in particular.
This is one of the last Pyrite stages I'll ever have the joy of designing, and it's hard not to reflect on Vuga's entire Pyrite journey and how far we've come as I'm working on Final Rush. It's been really fun.
Needless to say, the whole journey's been really fun! It's not over yet by any means, but tonight it really hit me that we're inching closer towards finishing this game, and therefore the series.
That's all from me tonight! I'll hop off now and get some sleep. I hope everyone in the United States has a great 4th of July!

WOW. Final rush is one of my favorite sa2 stages. How it looks so far is amazing. I truly appreciate all the work that you guys and Vuga put into this. I've found out about you guys in 2019(a year after pa1) and thought it was amazing. Then pa2 came and I was blown away. Ive said this before but you and all of the people at Vuga inspired me and many others who I know in making games and also starting up tournaments with projects you guys made(hyper shot and gear riders) and I truly thank you all for that. For making some days of my life great. And I know you guys will still be making games after pa3 but this is the last game that introduced me into the series and many others. I hope you guys continue to make games and get more people interested as Vuga isn't underrated but it's sort of in a middle ground where it has a pretty normal(mostly) community. Though once again I just have to say, your skills will never be replicated and that's in a good way as it will make more people want to play the game(if u see what I mean). I just wanna thank the entire team of vuga for inspiring me. Inspiring me to go to lengths that I never thought I would've before and inspire me in various different ways to get me to where I am now.
