Many new players who join this game quit easily after a few games, and it's usually due to this
1. 0 players are playing - I think this issue could be resolved in the future, so I don't think it's that much of an issue than the next ones that I will list next
2. MASSIVE SKILL GAP - The difference between being a really skilled Hypershot player and a lesser skilled one is so BIG, and normally in multiplayer games like this, not to mention there isn't much players available. Due to this they may be matched up with good players and usually would be destroyed 11-0, lowering their confidence and basically making them quit at this point. The tutorial doesn't help much with strategy, especially when new people don't know how good combining the shiftlock playstyle + non-shiftlock playstyle, and knowing how the ball usually moves/how to block it especially if you're on defense and your opponent goes for an air shot. Not to mention passing being super useful (BECAUSE EVERYONE LOVES TO BALL CHASE (PAUSEEE)) To fix this I guess get better? Unfortunately I do not think new players are willing to get better due to the lack of players.
3. Ball Mechanics (Pause) - Players that recently join hate the fact that if they dash into the ball, the ball wouldn't launch as fast, but if the opponent dashes into the ball, the ball launches like crazy. Got my other friends to play this game and they complain about this lol. Don't think there is any fix to this unfortunately.
4. Other Mechanics - When you're starting out (and I STILL DO THIS) you accidentally mash the keyboard too hard to accidentally freeze. Mention this, freeze is not good, you can literally stand in front of the ball, and it does the same exact thing intended. Gonna not go in depth about the startup hitboxes but they don't activate instantly so the ball literally phases through you. For something like freeze that is incredibly hard to master especially if the method of freezing to deflect the ball away is outclassed by someone literally standing still. Sure, it's also good when you're avoiding tackle spammers who constantly get under your skin (LOOKING AT YOU LE_GEO) but unfortunately when new players don't know how to time it right they get punished super hard and they get scored on quickly. That really annoys the new players especially me when I first started playing this game. Feel like they should keep this mechanic but make it a bit more useful by buffing the hitbox, I was also thinking of it letting you move slightly but that would ruin the point of freeze.
I think improving and buffing/nerfing some aspects of the mechanics of the game (like making tackle have a larger cooldown or have it a better grace period, or buffing the freeze hitbox) can help improve the experience of a first-timer playing this game

thank you for the suggestions! particularly at the end about buffing and nerfing some things. i'm not against giving the slide ability a larger cooldown considering it's deathly effective when even a medium-skilled player starts to get a handle on it

The slide issue was so prominent in my tournament. There was a really good team that ran 2 people who can hit, and one really good offensive player They blew out the other teams and won because they kept stunning the other team especially when everyone is so bunched up in 3v3s so its easier to get 2 hits at the same time. Not to mention there was one person playing back (not goalie there is a big difference ), and two on offense, so basically the other guy who was hitting basically spammed hits, and the non-hitter usually went in for the kill. So it was basically spam hit to win and noone could fight back (the best solution is to spread out) and you know how 3v1s end for the person at the end of the stick, usually not to well

Unfortunately many people don't want to be told, "Get better", mainly because to some people, it's demoralizing and feels more like an attack than a piece of advice, I play Nocturne a lot and you see so many people shout at you for the smallest of things and constantly say, "Get better", "You suck", "Your just salty that you lost", I know I'll never be good at Hypershot since it's not really a game genre I'm interested in, but you got to remember that the majority of Roblox's player base is kids, and kids especially hate being told when they're not good at something, I'll use my niece as an example, back when I was younger, I tried to get her to play Super Paper Mario and even let her play by herself, she reached a point where she would drop the game and stop playing until I helped her, it ultimately got to the point to where she lost interest in the game because she thought it was too hard, ultimately, 1st impressions are everything, if that 1st impression is bad, they're going to see the overall game as bad and not want to touch it, essentially what I'm trying to say is, if you want to attract more players, you need to give them a first good impression of the game, if they get creamed 11-0 and told, "Get better", you are automatically going to drive them away for good, essentially, it'd be great if there was a system where you could matchmake with players in your bracket/skill level, so beginners could be paired with beginners and experts could be paired with experts, so your able to get a start at growing a fanbase, and you won't drive away people by destroying them in a game and telling them, "Get Better"
TL;DR People don't want to be told, "Get better", they want to play a game where they feel like they have a fair chance of winning, and skill based matchmaking allows for that

Getting better also can require experience too so you won't like actually screw up plays. Skill based matchmaking is not gonna exist for now because noone plays this game. If there was more players, sure. The game doesn't even offer much tools to help many players get better, Shiftlock is so important to use in this game because you need to properly aim the ball and using your mouse to aim is much better than using WASD. You can also use a combo of WASD/Shiftlock when you get used to it. Generally speaking, this game has a higher skill ceiling, lower floor, and it needs to give players the tools they need to reach it there. The tutorial doesn't actually offer you a shiftlock tip, and more needs to be added. Fortunately this game actually has a community (I actually have a bobba server for this game) so it does help the fact that some people can offer tips to help people get better at the game. In the end, the best way to make a first impression is to not only be supportive, but to offer up tools for the player to learn and to get better.

I played it with my boyfriend and despite him being creamed, 11-2, and none of us knew how to play, he found it funny and had fun, but I know if something like that were to happen with my friend, he'd get easily discouraged and give up, it's just something that happens with these kinds of games, if you keep constantly losing and you're not having fun, your eventually going to give up, why do you think Casinos are able to keep their players around for a long time, they monitor when your starting to lose interest and use many different methods to keep you playing for as long as possible, some people legitimately don't want to get better, they want to be able to see a win, and if they keep going and get the exact same results, why bother?

I think the game is already fun enough, just some parts of it made it so hard to play (esp when 3 players target you the entire match and spam Q O-O ) Also whats your Roblox user? I think I remember 11-2'ing someone cuz they were trashtalking lol

The game was fun and I had fun, but it's left my friend frustrated, like I said, he hates the physics of the ball since to him it feels nothing like rocket league, and I will admit me not knowing anything about rocket league and not being good at any competitive sport also frustrated him, he's also annoyed with the hitboxes since he feels at many times, he's nowhere near the player and gets knocked down, it also doesn't help either when he plays a game and is losing, in fact, that's the one thing that drives him up a wall and also why he rage quit
