Gear riders also suffers from this
I could probably see why this game barely gets players now. Felt like if there were ways to keep the players more engaged it would be nice. At the same time, I felt like it was my fault for not keeping this community active.

At the same time, I felt like it was my fault for not keeping this community active. nah, i wouldn't blame you, nor should you blame yourself. we're stretched real thin during these PA3 days, so not only Hyper Shot, but SP:RP hasn't been getting a lot of love either.
while we're super passionate about PA3, there's so many updates we want to make to our other games, and there's just straight up other games we have that are like 5% or 10% done and have been so for years (not including WHO, which is 99% done) because PA3 is taking lots of our time away. not making excuses, just giving you (and anyone who reads this) an inside look that we're basically 100% dedicating our time to PA3 and have been for the last couple years.
once that game comes out, we'll definitely be taking a break or so from work, but i do think it'd have been long enough that we'll have to relook at Hyper Shot and SP:RP and basically reboot our advertising and support for them from scratch. that's the working plan in my head right now, but no details yet

Yeah, I can see that. It's not your fault though, felt like the new Hypershot update that came out probably a few months or a year ago, was enough to sustain us. We just needed bug fixes and new QOL. It was also on my part because some people genuinely like the game and want to play it but I don't really host any games when there's a good chance. The game was set up for success only. Also I saw some PA3 hype on tiktok lol, lotsa comparisons to SA2 they said. I've even seen a comment talking about how PA3 will be better than SA2 in every different way. Anyways, take as much of a break as you want after PA3! You've been working on it for probably 5 years lol. Sbobbaew Valley type dedication.
