This would make it feel like YOUR own pyrite story.

i like this idea! maybe there could even be options for other players to just appear as semi-transparent, almost looking like ghosts.

PA3's main story is intended to be a single player experience primarily, so i get why you asked for this feature and i support including something like this that keeps you engaged with the story and doesn't break your immersion too much.
