Don't put pressure on yourself to finish the update before the tournament and make sure you drink water and stuff. It is a miracle that this game is even getting love by its developers still so I'm sure the community won't get antsy over some extra needed development time if it comes down to that.

just posting a quick update! It'll be a close call whether Hyper Shot 3.0 is ready before the tournament or not this is more of a behind-the-scenes thing, not an excuse: despite Hyper Shot and WHO being pretty similar (gameplay, customization options, menus, etc.), for better or worse they're built completely differently from the ground up it's good because HS was good programming experience for me to make a way easier-to-update framework for WHO, but the bad side is that porting over functionality is a real delicate process. right now we've basically ripped out the Pro Shop from WHO and stitched it into HS as the customize shop. it's taking some time but we're doing the same thing for creating/joining private and public games (no more Quick Play option, just less jank this way) as well as spectating so it's still trudging along but it's a really needle-pointed procedure that we gotta do right or else the menus and mechanics outside of the core gameplay are just going to be spaghetti code and awful FYI I can move the signups back if its any close than a few days after the 8th Also how do you like, create matches now with quick join gone there will be dedicated Create Game and Join Game options now (this is how WHO does it too)

How is the game score determined in Hypershot? And how will the credits be determined in Hypershot? it's a lot like rocket league; you'll get points for goals, assists, saves, and hits. let's say your total score at the end of the match is 675, right? to determine your credits earned the game will just divide that down to 67

HI CAKE HYPERSHOT IS AWESOME I LOVE THE GAME BUT I HATE FREEZING!!! BUT THAT MADE ME THINK "WHAT IF PEOPLE COULD GET DIFFERENT ABILITIES (OF THEIR CHOOSING FROM A SET) FOR THEIR SPACE BAR" THE PROBLEM NOW BECOMES HOW DO YOU BALANCE EACH OF THEM WHICH MAY BE A HASSLE BUT I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!
tl;dr wonder if hypershot could get unique abilities or small passives but this may ruin the simplicity of the game (as everyone is the same in hypershot) - I'd love a freeze toggle or rebind(?) though.

-P.S. hello!!!!!!!!!1 i do not mind this idea at all because unlocking passives or alt abilities would honestly be really cool and it would add another layer of customization to your build and could reinforce the way you play best
i also am a big fan of how everyone's on the same level playing field ability-wise in Hyper Shot too like you said though, it's something i still really like about Hyper Shot compared to the hockey game i'm working on (you'll be leveling up stats there)
could you explain a little more about having a freeze toggle or rebind? i'm open to it i just wanna hear what you were thinking a little more specifically, like which buttons to rebind it to and etc.
i don't think special abilities would make the cut for 3.0's launch, but it's definitely an addition that would be perfect for a mega update (which is all Hyper Shot seems to get these days while Vuga finishes its heavy-hitting projects). i'm keeping that on the table

The freeze rebind/toggle would just be a way to change your keybinds within the game. It doesn't have to be locked to just changing your freeze bind though. Sometimes I'd press space twice too quickly and freeze on accident. Freeze could be changed to F, R, C, V, etc. but having it on space makes it a little too easy to do on accident. So, the option to move the freeze ability to another key, or being able to disable it for yourself would be nice. If special abilities did get added in the future, pressing space twice and activating them would also feel just as bad. While in theory the freezing mechanic sounds good (it expands your hitbox) there's nothing preventing the opponent from angling the ball around you before you can move again. Having the ball touch you while frozen also has the same knockback power as just normally touching the ball which makes freezing feel like a worse option for contesting the ball than just touching it. The problem with increasing its power though might be making it better for scoring on offense than being used for defense or contesting the ball in general (I assume this is it's original purpose). I'm fine with being unable to cancel the action of freezing, as it probably should have a downside, but the upsides don't outweigh the downsides in my opinion. I DO REMEMBER THOUGH YOU MADE IT SO YOU COULDN'T BE KNOCKED DOWN WHILE FROZEN IN THE AIR BUT YOU COULD BE STOMPED ON THANKS FOR THAT W SMALL BUFF(Maybe make it so if a teammate or you touched the ball last, if you were to freeze, it would not gain extra knockback, but otherwise it gains slightly better knockback? Just spitballing, freezing seems hard to balance.)

they want a custom rebind like an option where you can rebind it to any key in settings\ that's do-able i think. it might not come at launch but i've brainstormed a way i think it could work out Also some people either want R F or V as freeze. Also that's fine if it doesn't come at launch, just do what you gotta do ya know

doing some more Hyper Shot work this Sunday.
the big thing has been trying to stitch in WHO's awesome, very easy to use code into Hyper Shot, which has a pretty crazy behind-the-scenes. but i'm confident that if i can keep the energy up today, i should have the hardest parts of the port done.
